Civil society, life events & people
2: World War 1
Required Resources
- Slides 12-14
Delivery
- With the use of Slides 12-14 give students World War 1 key dates and general context. Refer to the Teacher Notes for further background information.
- Using the statistics provided on Slide 13, demonstrate to students the scale of death caused by the War. You may wish to point out that on average 6,000 people a day were killed and ask students to reflect on how that compares to the number of students in the school (i.e. three times as many people died per day).
- Slide 14 highlights the involvement of people as young as or younger than the students themselves. Ask them how they would feel if they or their friends were called to war.
