1. Starter: The Killing Sea

Delivery
- Do not introduce the lesson topic at the start of the lesson.
- Display Slide 2 and ask a student to read it out loud. The slide features an extract from the novel 'The Killing Sea' by Richard Lewis, a fictional novel about the tsunami, focusing on the experiences of an Indonesian boy and a Western girl during and after the incident. Ask students to deduce what real-life event the extract is describing.
