Energy and resources
3: Oil production and consumption worldwide
Required Resources
- Slides 6-7
- Student Worksheet 2
Delivery
- As a class, look at the map of worldwide oil consumption on Worksheet 2 and Slide 6. Ask students to examine the map in pairs and to see whether they can identify any pattern to the data represented on the map.
- Student Worksheet 2 and Slide 7 shows two graphs, one of which shows available oil reserves (in thousand million barrels) worldwide, and the other which shows output of those oil fields by day (in million barrels per day). Ask the class to consider the two sets of data, and to identify whether oil reserve and production levels correspond directly.
