3. Analysis of a broadsheet article and comparisons

Required Resources

• Student Worksheet 3

Delivery

• Ask students to remain in their pairs and distribute a copy of Student Worksheet 3 to each pair. The Worksheet contains an article from the Times.
• Students read through the article from the Times together and identify features representative of broadsheet newspapers.
• Students answer the questions on Student Worksheet 2a which invite them to compare the two articles from The Times and The Daily Mirror.

Differentiation

Lower Ability:

As per Episode 2.

Higher Ability:

Students write a short review (a paragraph) detailing which article they felt was most effective and why.
