2. Tsunamis - Setting the scene
Required Resources
- Video: Naval involvement in the relief effort after the South East Asian tsunami
- Slides 11 - 15
Delivery
- Show students the video footage which covers some of the Royal Navy's involvement in the relief effort in Sri Lanka following the tsunami. The footage will give colour to students' understanding of the incident and give them some insight into UK military involvement.
- Students should take notes while watching the footage as this may aid them in subsequent activities.
- You may like to reference more recent tsunami, such as the event on April 2nd 2007 in the Solomon Islands, to give students a wider frame of reference for the topic.
