Earthquakes
2. Immediate impacts
Required Resources
- Student Worksheet 1
- Slides 6-10
Delivery
- Give each student a copy of Student Worksheet 1. This Worksheet gives students some general information on earthquakes to refresh their prior learning and supplies some images and background information relating to the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
- Ask students to read through the information given, with particular attention to the Kashmir relevant text and to make a list of immediate impacts of the earthquake. You may like to ask them to infer secondary impacts as well and to split the list accordingly.
- Discuss student response as a class. How does this compare to some of the other case studies they have looked at?
