The EST Conservation Group Team works to co-ordinate activities and provide support and advice to the 120+ MOD conservation groups and over 2,000 voluntary MOD conservation group members nationwide. The team also delivers a range of publications and site-specific interpretation to promote environmental awareness. One of the team’s flagship publications ‘Conservation Update’ is produced for Conservation Groups and provides a useful forum to share knowledge and best practice and keep up to date on changes in environmental legislation. We are currently developing a number of monitoring and recording projects for Conservation Groups to take part in, and have joined forces with organisations such as Plantlife, Ponds Conservation and Tracking Mammals Partnership to ensure that our work is consistent and that we share information to support each other. The team also administers the DE environmental image library, a valuable resource of flora, fauna and landscape images from across the whole MOD estate.
