A truly inspiring project that helped terminally ill people to express themselves through art

Rosetta Requiem was produced by Rosetta Life – a charity that works with people with life-threatening illnesses to give full expression to their creative talents. The project is a cycle of songs and films, developed through a series of workshops and masterclasses. Artists and volunteers work with hospice users to build intense and powerful works of art.

Many well-known filmmakers, musicians and composers have given up their time to be involved in the project, including Michael Nyman, Billy Bragg, Orlando Gough, Jarvis Cocker and BAFTA award-winning Emily Young.

The films and songs are available on the Rosetta Requiem website. The site also features online diaries of the participants. This means the work will have an audience and a longevity stretching beyond the live recitals and webcasts to become a valuable resource for future patients, families, carers and friends.

One of the songs from Rosetta Requiem, 'We Laughed', was released as a single and reached number 11 in the official charts in November 2005.
