Technical Manager
Dan has worked for over ten years as an IT professional, predominantly on creating interactive content and experiences. He came to Culture Online from NESTA Futurelab, where he was Director of Technology, responsible for the technical dimension of all research projects and for the provision of the organisation's technical infrastructure.
Prior to NESTA, Dan worked for the BBC. Amongst his many achievements was writing the code for the BBC’s first live web chat, leading the development of BETSIE (a service enabling blind and partially sighted users to get more from the web) and being appointed Chief Technologist for the BBC’s Digital Curriculum.
Dan has also produced multimedia CD-ROM titles and websites for the Open University, researched the aerodynamics of wind turbines and written core software for Waitrose.
Dan is an expert on the ways in which technology affects people’s everyday lives and sees the integration of technical knowledge within the team as critical to our success.
