Department for Culture Media and Sport

communities steering board

The Communities Steering Board is formed of chief executives and directors of key organisations that impact communities.

The Board provides strategic direction and joins up the work of our partner organisations relating to culture and sport in communities. It aims to:

  • Build more cohesive, empowered and active communities through the promotion of culture and sport
  • Contribute to the success of areas of housing growth through the implementation of cultural and sporting projects

These objectives are directly related to Public Service Agreements (PSAs) 20 and 21. They support the Departmental Strategic Objectives, particularly in increasing the enjoyment of culture and sport nationally. They also support the local improvement agenda, as outlined in the document A Passion for Excellence.

The Communities Steering Board provides strategic oversight and challenge for the projects it is responsible for, to ensure focus and delivery.
