better information

VisitBritain.com is one of the UK's largest and most successful websites. It brings together over 40 sites covering VisitBritain's overseas marketing campaigns and country specific sites around the world providing information on Britain - many in foreign languages. It also carries a link to VisitBritain's "Tourism Industry Professionals" site, which has information and advice for the tourism industry.

The core content of VisitBritain is a database of around 70,000 records from all four countries of the United Kingdom, including up to 10,000 events listings. The main elements include attractions, events and accommodation providers. Much of the latter can be booked on-line and there is also a searchable database of over 100 commercial websites offering on-line booking. Particular features of VisitBritain.com include its sophisticated mapping system, which allows users to plan their trips down to street level scale, and an on-line itinerary planner.

VisitBritain is also responsible for overseeing the EnglandNet project. EnglandNet is developing a powerful new on-line tourism network for England. Its new Content Management System is already helping to power visitengland.com, the new website for England aimed at a domestic audience. EnglandNet will also provide e-commerce distribution services, allowing businesses to sell their products through new electronic outlets and allowing VisitBritain to provide a 'one-stop shop' for holiday-makers.
