In January 2005 we published the consultation paper Understanding the future: museums and 21st century life with the aim of stimulating a debate on the issues surrounding the Museums and Galleries sector.

The responses to the consultation strongly favoured the creation of a national strategy that would embrace the whole sector.

Collaborative working group

Understanding the Future: Priorities for England’s Museums Consultation

The collaborative working group have now reached their conclusions and have published Understanding the Future: Priorities for England’s Museums, which makes a series of recommendations under five topics; identity, collections, workforce, structure and learning. This latest document is a consultation and responses are invited by the 19 January 2007.
