reception advice

Unfortunately, there are a number of areas across the UK where TV signals of an acceptable technical quality cannot be obtained. This can occur where the line of sight between transmitters and consumers is obstructed by hills, buildings, or even by local atmospheric conditions.

For free advice on how to improve your television and radio reception, contact either BBC Reception Advice or the Office of Communications (Ofcom).

Reputable local aerial installers will be familiar with local reception characteristics and will be able to advise you on improving your analogue reception. They will also be able to advise you on the ways of receiving digital television.

We recommend that you contact an accredited installer through the Confederation of Aerial Industries Ltd or the Independent Digital Standards Commission.

Receiving digital television
Digital television can be received via an aerial satellite dish, internet connection or cable.

To see which digital TV services are available in your area, see the digital television Group website and enter your postcode.
