There are two publicly-funded bodies that provide support for overseas work and exchanges: the British Council and Visiting Arts.
British Council
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for educational and cultural relations; it is not a funding body.
The British Council supports art projects, connecting people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK.
Working to build lasting relationships between the UK and other countries; it has offices in 218 towns and cities in 109 countries worldwide.

Visiting Arts
Visiting Arts is a UK agency, bringing work from overseas to the UK and developing cultural links abroad. They:
- Fund programmes to bring exhibitions and artists to the UK
- Provide practical information and advice to help you to develop your international arts project
- Provide training, placement and residency programmes
The aim of the organisation is to strengthen intercultural understanding through the arts. DCMS funds and works closely with Visiting Arts to ensure that Departmental aims are integrated into their work.
