What is the Arts Award?
The Young People's Arts Award is the first award scheme and accredited qualification to recognise young people's development through the arts
The award is run by Arts Council England; the Arts Award website gives full details about taking part and what’s happening nationwide.
Who can take the award?
Anyone aged 11 to 25 with an interest in the arts can apply for the award. It is run nationally in a variety of locations and organisations, from schools to youth clubs and community groups.
How does it work?
The award encourages young people to develop their skills in their chosen artform, run arts projects and see and get involved in the work of others. It also enables them to explore training courses and arts careers.
There are three levels of award; Bronze, Silver or Gold which are respectively accredited at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework. There is no limit to the time it takes to work towards an award and all participants will receive help from an Arts Award adviser.
Where can I take an Arts Award?
If your youth club, arts centre, school, college or community group, doesn’t already run the Arts Award, they can apply to do so. Otherwise you can find out who is running it on the “your area” section of the Arts Award website.
How can I become an Arts Award adviser?
Arts Award advisers need to meet specific requirements and attend a training course; full details are available on the Arts Award website.
How can we register as an Arts Award centre?
If you would like to register as a centre you must have a trained Arts Award adviser in your school or organisation first. Contact the national team for more information via email or telephone 0207 820 6178.
