Is CABE's advice legally binding?

 

CABE's opinions remain advisory, decisions are left to the planning authorities, who can choose not to follow CABE's advice. 

A letter from DETR to local planning authorities of 15 May 2001 sets out the circumstances in which CABE should be consulted about planning applications.
