UK business legacy
Demonstrating the UK as a creative, inclusive and welcoming place to live in, visit and do business.
The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games provide a unique opportunity for businesses to benefit from one of the largest projects that the UK has seen. The London Games are also helping to boost our economic recovery and to create a sustainable future for London and the UK.
As well as creating new business opportunities nationwide, there is the chance to increase the quality of jobs, skills and training available in East London as well as the rest of the UK. The Games will also bring a massive boost to the British tourism sector.
Business opportunities
The Olympic programme is delivering vital business, jobs, skills and training opportunities at a tough time for companies and workers, and is an important boost to the legacy of the London Games.
The London Games are not just about businesses who win 2012 contracts, they are also about leaving a legacy of fitter, more innovative companies who can compete for all opportunities on a global stage, and who are also well placed to access an annual public procurement spend of £175 billion.

Jobs, skills & training
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will help sustain employment and provide new jobs, including hundreds of apprenticeships in a range of sectors. It will also help to drive up skills in one of the most economically deprived parts of the UK.
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has also announced 250 construction apprenticeship opportunities to be created on the Olympic Park and Olympic Village, on top of an existing commitment of 2,000 trainees, apprentices and work placements.
Access to job vacancies
The London 2012 “Jobs, Skills, Futures” brokerage works in partnership with the contractors on the Olympic Park to identify all job vacancies that can be made available to local people. For further details regarding your local employment brokerage service or JobCentre Plus please see the London 2012 website.

Training Opportunities
A new regional training hub at Thames House is providing thousands of construction training opportunities for Londoners and complements the work of the Plant Training Centre which is located at the Olympic Park. Thames House is the first of three training schools which will provide a combined total of up to 20,000 training places over the next five years. It links Londoners to employment opportunities associated with the Olympic Park and Olympic Village, Olympic legacy and Thames Gateway regeneration projects.
Personal Best
The Personal Best programme uses volunteering to help people, particularly those furthest from the labour market. It provides people with the skills they need to apply to volunteer at the Games and other events, as well as to better compete in a difficult job market.
