As part of this process a Nations and Regions Group (NRG) has been established.
The NRG comprises representatives from every region and from the Devolved Administrations, as well as representatives from Visit Britain, the British Olympic Association and the Local Government Association. It meets quarterly and provides leadership and strategic direction to maximise opportunities from the 2012 Games.
The NRG facilitates a UK-wide network to share best practice, join up initiatives, stimulate innovation, inspire communities and raise issues in relation to 2012.
Each nation and region has its own regional working structures, which include regional development agencies, sports, tourism and cultural bodies, local authorities, government offices for the regions and business representation.

What are the nations and regions doing to maximise the opportunites presented by the 2012 Games?
Nations and regions are completing first drafts of their plans to maximise the opportunities and benefits from the 2012 Games. The plans identify 2012 as a catalyst for driving forward and adding value to existing programmes of work, building capacity to deliver in the regions and embedding the Games into a broader social policy agenda.
As part of their developing plans, nations and regions are considering how they communicate, consult with and engage wider communities.
What 2012 events will take place outside of London?
2012 events will be spread across the UK. The football tournament will see games in Glasgow, Cardiff, Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham. The sailing will be in Weymouth; rowing will be in Eton Dorney; canoeing will be in Broxbourne (Hertfordshire) and mountain biking in Weald Country Park (Essex).
What locations are being considered to serve as pre-Games training camps for athletes for the 2012 Games?
UK facilities that have been selected as providing a suitable training environment are listed by location and sport will be listed in the LOCOG "Pre-Games Training Camp Guide".
Applications from interested, potential hosts can be made on the London 2012 website. Applications will initially be assessed locally with selection co-ordinated by each nation and region. A proposed list of facilities will then be submitted to LOCOG for final selection by 2008.
This guide will be the primary means of informing National Olympic Committees (NOC) and National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) when choosing where to stage their pre-Games preparation camps for 2012. The guide will be distributed to NOCs anbd NPCs in July 2008.
LOCOG have announced that financial contributions totalling some £9 million will be made available to encourage overseas Olympic and Paralympic teams to use pre-Games training camps in the UK to prepare for the London 2012 Games.
