Cultural Tourism

For anyone interested in planning a walking holiday in Britain, the VisitBritain map website -  Walking Britain, will help you find out everything you need to know: from where to stay, how to get there, suggested walks and itineraries and much more.

There are coastal paths with breathtaking views of sea and sky, wonderful opportunities to see wildlife and tracks following disused railway lines or canal towpaths which allow you to explore Britain's rich industrial heritage.

Britain is famous for its gardens and between them  VisitBritain's British Gardens map and website offer information on nearly 500 gardens, a full list of garden events, itineraries and a behind the scenes look at some of Britain's most popular gardens.

Unique, traditional, cutting edge, refreshing, imaginative - the UK's cities offer many opportunities for short breaks. The booklet gives you a snapshot of twenty three cities. There is more information on the UK City Culture website .

From the settings of classic films like Brief Encounter at Carnforth station in Lancashire to the eponymous Notting Hill in London, you don't have to be a film buff to find VisitBritain's Movie Map fascinating. Harry Potter fans will also be interested in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - Discovering the Magic of Britain, which reveals some of the locations where the film was shot.
