The Modernisation Programme
The Modernisation Programme is a Government funded initiative led by UK Sport in association with the home country Sports Councils. Its aim is to provide support to National Governing Bodies of sport (at both UK/GB and Home Country level) to help them modernise and to change to achieve the high level aims of increasing participation and developing talent.
The 3 focus areas for funding are:-
- ensuring the Governing Body has a clear role, purpose and priorities and has the infrastructure, systems and strategies to deliver these.
- improving the skills and competencies of Governing Body executive and non-executive staff, coaches, leaders and officials whether paid or voluntary.
- encouraging and supporting the adoption of the highest standards, policies and practices, to enable the Governing Body to actively provide and enhance equal opportunities.
Funding of £7 million is available during 2001 to 2004, more information and application form available on the UK Sport Website.
