Elite Disabled Sport
The British Paralympic Association(BPA) receives funding from Government grant, through UK Sport sponsorship and in preparation for the Paralympic Games in Athens 2004 an additional £1.7 million of Lottery funding has been invested.
The BPA is responsible for selecting, preparing, entering, funding and managing Britain's teams at the Paralympic Games and the Paralympic Winter Games.
The XVII Commonwealth Games were held in Manchester 2002 and for the first time had events for Elite Athletes with a Disability fully integrated into the competition programme. The medals won, 2 Gold and a Bronze counted towards the final medal tally.
