- Sport England - Sport England operates under a Royal Charter and is the Government funded agency responsible for providing the strategic lead for sport in England in order to deliver the Government's sporting objectives. It receives annual grant in aid from the Department for core expenditure and also in respect of specific programmes. It is also a distributor of the Lottery Sports Fund. Sport England is currently undergoing a radical modernisation programme and has adopted a new vision, mission, role and business objectives. Its vision is to make England an active and successful sporting nation and its business objectives are:-
Increase participation in sport to improve the health of the nation, with a focus on priority groups;
retain people in sport and active recreation through an effective network of clubs, sports facilities, coaches, volunteers and competitive opportunities; and
promoting sporting success at the highest level.

- UK Sport - UK Sport operates under a Royal Charter and is responsible for creating a strategy for the development of high performance sport in the UK. Its main purposes are to support world class athletes, world class events and ethically fair and drug free sport. Its overriding aim is for the UK to be in the top five sporting nations by 2012, measured by athlete performances at World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games.
UK Sport is also a Lottery Sports Fund distributor through its World Class Performance and World Class Events programmes. It also receives Exchequer funding which are used to help improve the administration of UK governing bodies of sport, manage the UK 's anti-doping programme and run the UK Sports Institute.

- Football Licensing Authority - The FLA is an independent public body set up under the Football Spectators Act 1989 and funded by the DCMS. Its main functions are to licence league and international football grounds in England and Wales and to oversee the control of safety at these grounds by local authorities. Its objectives are to ensure the reasonable safety and management of spectators through:
- all-seated Premiership and First division grounds;
- safe standing terraces at other grounds;
- clubs taking full responsibility for safety; and
- reasonable requirements by local authorities
