Professional sport

Through supporting the governing bodies of sport and representative organisations the Department is also involved in policy on taxation and charitable issues. 

The DCMS is responsible for sports ground safety, supporting UK bids for major sporting events, promoting the role of sport in urban and rural regeneration, and playing fields policy.
