Professional Sport
The Department manages and maintains the Department's relationship with the national governing bodies of sport (NGBs). This process assists in ensuring that NGBs contribute to delivering the Government's objectives in increasing participation in sport. The Department also ensures that the interests of professional sport are well represented within Government.
DCMS is the lead Department in coordinating the Government's response to topical sporting issues. Recent examples of this include the England Cricket team's tour of Zimbabwe and the future of the British Grand Prix.
