This report provides figures on the economic value of sport to the UK economy and the number of people employed.
Under an EU agreed definition of sport, estimates have been calculated in terms of consumer expenditure, the corresponding value added and employment figures for the UK. In future it will be possible to make comparisons between the UK and other EU countries.
The UK’s results for each year from 2005 to 2009 will be published by the end of 2011.
Latest Release: 28/01/2010
This report publishes the first set of results for the UK using 2004 data. This exercise will allow a more accurate international comparison of such results for the first time.
