UK City of Culture: Working Group Report
This document is the final report of the Working Group.
On 7 January 2009 the former Culture Secretary, Andy Burnham, announced that he had invited Phil Redmond to chair a panel to consider the feasibility of a UK City of Culture programme, learning from the success of Liverpool 2008 and enabling other cities to benefit in the same way. A Working Group was set up in March to look at the desirability and feasibility of the proposal. The Group advised on all aspects of the idea and concluded its consideration of the proposal in June. This document is the final report of the Working Group.
Bidding criteria and guidance have now been published for UK City of Culture 2013 and can be seen on the UK City of Culture page on this website.
