Laying the Foundations: Using the Built Environment to Teach

'Laying the Foundations: Using the Built Environment to teach', is a joint publication from DCMS and DfES that shows how more and more teachers are working with architecture and heritage organisations to unlock the learning potential of the built environment.

From projects that enable pupil participation in the Building Schools for the Future programme to resources that help primary schools make links to their local history, Laying the Foundations demonstrates the scope and creativity that is brought to learning when teachers and pupils engage with the fabric of their communities.
