DCMS appointments

075/09
12 May 2009

Ann Green and Alexis Cleveland have been appointed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as non-executive board members.

The appointments will run from 12 May 2009 for two years, after which they are open for renewal.  Alexis Cleveland will also sit on the department’s Audit Committee.

Ann brings wide experience of the public, private and voluntary sectors. Following a career in finance and general management, she now sits on the boards of several small private companies and chairs both the Royal Armouries and Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Ltd.

A statistician by training Alexis has spent her Civil Service career in policy, ICT, shared services and operational delivery. She left her role as Chief Executive of the Pension Service in 2007 to head transformational government in the Cabinet Office.

DCMS Permanent Secretary Jonathan Stephens said:

"We are delighted to welcome Ann and Alexis onto the board. Their appointments will maintain external input and challenge to the Board. With our existing non-executive directors, I’m sure they will be of great benefit to the department.”

Notes to Editors

  2. Ann Green is Chair of the Royal Armouries in Leeds, which is a Non Departmental Public Body.
  3. Alexis Cleveland is Director General of Transformational Government at the Cabinet Office.
  4. Both appointees will continue their current roles while serving on the DCMS board.
  5. Although these appointments do not formally come within the remit of the Commissioner for Public Appointments, they were made taking account of the Commissioner's code of practice. The appointments were made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.
