Walter Lilly appointed as main contractor for construction of 7 July permanent Memorial

Walter Lilly has been appointed as the main contractor for the construction of the permanent Memorial to the victims of the 7 July London bombings, which will be sited in Hyde Park. Norton Cast Products will produce the 52 stelae which make up the Memorial.

The Memorial was designed by the architects Carmody Groarke in close collaboration with members of the bereaved families, with the project being managed by The Royal Parks on behalf of DCMS.

Work will start on site in the early spring, with completion expected by 7 July 2009.

  2. The winning company was selected from a shortlist of five bidders out of the 25 contractors who requested initial information packs.
