Consultation on a Draft Order to be Made Under the Export Control Act 2002

On 30 January 2003 Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell issued a consultation document inviting comments on a draft Order to be made under the Export Control Act 2002. The draft Order will impose export controls on objects of cultural interest; and will replace the similar existing provisions under the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1992 made under the Import, Export and Customs (Powers) Defence Act 1939.
Heritage organisations, members of the art trade and other interested parties have until Wednesday, 30 April 2003 to submit views.
