Royal Parks
The Royal Parks (TRP) is an executive agency of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.TRP performs the Secretary of State's duty of care for the Royal Parks which comprise: Hyde Park; Kensington Gardens; St. James's Park; The Green Park; The Regent's Park with Primrose Hill; Greenwich Park; Bushy Park and Richmond Park. TRP is also responsible for Brompton Cemetery.
TRP is committed to enhancing, protecting and conserving the Parks for the benefit of this and future generations, whilst ensuring that they remain localities that offer peaceful enjoyment, recreation and entertainment to those who use them.
TRP not only cares for the horticulture and landscaping of the Parks but also has many important buildings to maintain (22 of which are listed), in addition to the 170 kilometres of roads and paths in the Parks. TRP have set aside parts of each Park for specific sporting activities, such as cycling, horse riding etc. TRP also arrange a summer entertainment programme with events in most parks.
The Royal Parks Foundation The Royal Parks Foundation is a independent registered charity set up in May 2003 with the aim of generating additional funds to help protect and enhance The Royal Parks, to develop a network of partners and supporters and to raise the appreciation and release the potential of the Parks.
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain Hyde Park is the setting for the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain. The memorial fountain was designed by Gustafson Porter, a leading Anglo-American design team and was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 6 July 2004.
