Operational Note:
"2012 Delivering for the UK" - UK wide Business Conference to be held in Leeds
On Wednesday, 19 July 2006, Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell will give the keynote speech at the first 2012 UK wide Business Conference in Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD. The conference will look at ways that 2012 can deliver for all of the UK.
The conference will run from 9.30am to 3.30pm, but media entry will be limited to the opening speeches.
Media are invited to send a camera crew/photographer/reporter to:
9.30 – 11.00 Opening speeches chaired by John Hammond, former BBC and ITV presenter.
Martin Havenhand, Chair of the Yorkshire & Humber Nations and Regions Group will give a welcome address followed by the Keynote Speech given by the Rt Hon Tessa Jowell, Olympics Minister.

The following will then be speaking:
- Paul Deighton, Chief Executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG);
- David Higgins, Chief Executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority at the (ODA);
- Charles Allen, Chair of the Nations and Regions Group; Chief Executive of ITV; Board member of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG);
- Lord Marshall, Chair Visit Britain
- Jude Kelly Chair for Culture and Education and Artistic Director of the South Bank (LOCOG);
There is a Q&A for delegates only between 11.00am and 11.20am. At 11.00am, media are invited to move to the Albert room to attend a Press Briefing:
11.20 – 11.40 Press briefing in the Albert room in the Town Hall, hosted by Tessa Jowell, with Paul Deighton, David Higgins, Charles Allen, Lord Marshall and Jude Kelly.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:
- Space at the Town Hall is limited and accreditation/entry is not guaranteed. If you wish to attend, you must RSVP to Kate.Hilton@culture.gsi.gov.uk no later than 12pm on Monday, 17 July 2006. Please indicate the name of anyone you wish to accredit. You will receive confirmation of whether your request for admission has been successful by the close of Monday, 17 July.
- Only one reporter per newspaper or magazine will be allowed entry.
