Consultation on Welsh language forms and documents to be prescribed under the Licensing Act 2003
This consultation has now ended. The consultation period was 31 March - 28 April 2006.
DCMS is seeking comments on proposals for prescribing Welsh language versions of licensing application forms and related documents under the Licensing Act 2003.
Regulations made in January and October 2005 prescribed the forms and other documents to be used by applicants and licensing authorities when engaging in the new licensing regime in England and Wales. The detail and content of the prescribed forms will not change, and this consultation is about putting Welsh language versions of those documents on the same statutory footing as the English versions. We believe this is right and necessary to allow Welsh licensing authorities to deliver their commitments to provide public services in Welsh under their Welsh Language Schemes.
Before putting secondary legislation before Parliament, we want to be satisfied that our proposals would achieve our policy objective without negatively affecting stakeholder groups.
