Learning To Listen: Core Principles For The Involvement Of Children And Young People
The Government wants children and young people to have more opportunities to get involved in the design, provision and evaluation of policies and services that affect them or which they use.
In November 2001, the Government launched the 'Core Principles for the Involvement of Children and Young People'. DCMS has a big part to play and is one of 11 departments taking the lead in developing this work. Part of this work has been to create a Core Principles Action Plan PDF (185kb). This will lead to better services for children and young people, and their communities, as they are shaped to meet their real, rather than presumed, needs.
Work continues to identify examples of good practice and to facilitate discussion about important issues and problems faced by those implementing the 'Core Principles'.
