Adult Literacy And Numeracy
The Government's national adult literacy and numeracy strategy, Skills for Life, was published in 2001 and aims to improve the skills of 750,000 people by 2004.
DCMS has been working closely with the Department for Education and Skills to identify what its sectors, such as the arts, sport, museums and libraries can do to support the strategy.
Over the next two years, DCMS will develop and test its sectors' potential for providing alternatives to college-based learning and innovative training resources.
