Increasing exports and exploiting world markets
The UK's performance in this area is strong: the UK has an estimated world market share of around 10-15%, second only to the US. Our European market share is thought to be as high as 30%.
The DCMS Music Exports Group (MEG) is a cross Government/Industry forum established to address issues that impact on the export activities of the UK music industry. The group includes a broad range of industry representatives: record labels, trade associations, publishers, promoters, collecting societies, artists, managers and educators, as well as Government partners including UK Trade & Investment and British Council. The Music Export Group has identified the United States, China and India as the three main priority territories.
