Performing Arts International Development Group (PAID)
The Performing Arts International Development Group is one of 3 Industry-led export groups. It is a partnership between the key trade associations and Government to assist in the task of developing and maximising new opportunities (A) for companies and individual artists touring overseas in the Performing Arts sector and (B) for the export management, educational and technical expertise from within the sector.
The group is chaired by Richard Pulford, Chief Executive of the Society of London Theatres/Theatre Managers Association. In 2002, the PAID group appointed the services of an Industry adviser to drive its export strategy forward. The Independent Theatre Council was awarded the contract in November 2002.
Specific Objectives for the PAID group are:
- To identify arts organisations that might be encouraged to apply for support and assistance through UK Trade & Investment programme of overseas trade exhibitions and seminars
- To identify other actual and potential sources of advice and financial support for export promotion and trade development over and above those represented by the British Council, UK Trade & Investment and the UK Arts funding system
- To establish a framework of best practice in overseas touring from the Performing Arts sector and to compile a user–friendly directory of useful contacts in a form that can be readily accessed by those interested within the sector
- To work with UK Trade & Investment, DCMS and to identify well in advance key Governmental initiatives and activities overseas that offer potential scope for developing an associated Performing Arts export presence
