Design Partners
Design Partners brings together business, trade bodies, trade associations stakeholders and individuals from the industry, with a view to:
- Enhancing export performance of the sector
- Considering where and how UK Trade & Investment and stakeholders can best support industries' efforts
Design Partners aims to increase the level of international design business by coordinating the activities of design industry bodies and government agencies and departments.
The group was first established in 1999. It is chaired by Andrew Summers, CMG. In 2002 it decided to appoint the services of a Design Industry Adviser to drive its export strategy and help in its implementation. Christine Losecaat was appointed in February 2003.
Design Partners supports two important elements of the UK design industry:
Designer-Makers Contemporary designer makers work in many fields, including such sectors as furniture, lighting, ceramics, metal and wood, glass, textiles, jewellery and more.
Design Consultants Design disciplines offered include: branding; commercial & retail interiors; exhibitions and events ; graphics; multimedia; packaging; and product/industrial design
