Creative Exports Group
The Creative Exports Group (CEG) is a partnership between the key trade associations and Government to provide the best possible channel for communication between creative Britain and its market.
The group is made up of representatives of the copyright based Creative Industries in the UK and aims to make a significant contribution towards boosting the industry's economic potential at home, while raising awareness of the UK's role at the heart of worldwide creativity and innovation.
Newspaper, book and magazine publishing, computer software and services, interactive media, music publishing and recording, radio, advertising and the film industry are all covered by the group's work.
Supported jointly by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and UK Trade and Investmen (UKT&I), the CEG provides a national forum for copyright based Creative Industries and Government to examine issues affecting the export of goods and services and consider ways of enhancing export performance.
The group is chaired by Andrew Yeates (former Director General of the British Phonographic Industry). In 2002, it decided to appoint the services of an Industry Adviser to drive its export agenda and help in its implementation. Christine Losecaat was most recently appointed in February 2004.
The Group's aims and objectives are:
- To work with industry, Government and Regional agencies in order to make best use of funding programmes for the content sector and help steer the
export agenda for the creative content sector
- To facilitate and coordinate export strategies for specific industry sector working groups on Music, Television, Radio, Film and Publishing
- To engage with regional partners and agencies to highlight and promote the full range of talent from across the UK
- To work with two other Industry-led export groups the Performing Arts International Development group and Design partners to share best practice and inform and drive the Governments support for exporting the Creative Industries
