Outdoor fun
Wherever you live, there’s outdoor space somewhere near and if you take a short trip the possibilities are endless. Whether it’s kicking a ball in the park, barbecuing or bike riding, going for walks or taking part in organised activities, getting outside can keep your kids fit and healthy - and burn off some of their endless energy!
Here are some ideas of things to do that may not automatically spring to mind.
City farms
There are 59 city farms and 66 school farms spread right across the UK - and they're a great place for children of all ages.
Over three million people visit them each year - and they are cheap or free to visit. If you decide to be one of the estimated 500,000 volunteers, then you'll never have to pay.
Many of the farms hold special events. But it's always a great chance for your kids to see newborn animals - from lambs to piglets, watch tractors in action and learn more about how their food is grown. Click on their map at www.farmgarden.org.uk to find the farms in your area.
Emmerdale could be closer than you think!

On yer bike!
Bike riding is one of the cheapest outdoor activities your kids (and you) can get involved in. And it can be done at all times of year - as long as your kids are wearing helmets and clothing that makes them visible to any vehicles they may share the road with.
The enjoy England website gives loads of information about bike riding. This includes the national cycle network - thousands of miles of family friendly cycle routes across England - to find your nearest starting point, all you have to do is enter your postcode. You can also discover the no car zone tow path network - and lots of other ideas for things to do on bikes - from mountain biking to competitions.
