Siôn Simon MP, Minister for Creative Industries

Biography
Born in 1968 to Welsh speaking parents, Siôn Simon grew up in North Birmingham and was educated at Handsworth Grammar school and Magdalen College, Oxford.
After university, Mr Simon became research assistant to George Robertson MP, now Lord Robertson of Port Ellen. Between 1993 and 1995 he was a Senior Manager at Guinness PLC. Between 1997 and 2001, Mr Simon wrote weekly columns in the Daily Telegraph, News of the World, the Daily Express, and was an associate editor of The Spectator.
Mr Simon was elected to Parliament to represent the Birmingham Erdington constituency during the 2001 election, and was re elected in 2005.
In Parliament Siôn sat on the Public Accounts Committee and was then a Parliamentary Private Secretary between 2003 and 2005. From 2007 he served on the Treasury Select Committee.
Prior to joining DCMS Siôn was Minister for Further Education, at the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills.
