To open, Secretary of State, Tessa Jowell, gave a wide-ranging speech, to an enthusiatic audience. The conference explored the impact of major technological and commercial developments on the creative industries. In the Plenary Sessions and Working Groups, participants explored to what extent the legislative framework needs to change and were provided with an opportunity to deliver policy recommendations to the European Commission. The findings of the conference are wide ranging and available via http://www.creativeeconomyconference.org/ but we are delighted that the Austrian Presidency has made a firm commitment to continue this work and is planning to hold an experts seminar early next year to discuss and take forward recommendations from the Creative Economy Conference wherever possible.
