DCMS has developed this material to assist Local Authority licensing officers and councillors in their responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2005 (the Act).


[NOTE: This training material has since been revised: The revised edition was published on 23 April 2007]


The Department aims to increase the levels of confidence and expertise within licensing authorities in relation to  licensing gambling premises,  for the benefit of the public, the industry and  licensing authorities.

The material is for training purposes only. It will be updated as regulations are laid and must  not be viewed as government policy until the relevant regulations come into force.

Second package of training materials on Gambling Act 2005 Permits was published on 14 March 2007.

14 March 07 -  We are in the process of updating these training materials in the light of recent changes to the transition timetable and new regulations.
