Guidance for the Care of Human Remains in Museums

This document provides guidance, and best practice on the care of human remains, for museums and other institutions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, that hold human remains in permanent collections.

It is issued following the 2003 report by the DCMS Working Group on Human Remains and the subsequent 2004 consultation on that document (DCMS 2003 and 2004). It is also issued to support Section 47 of the 2004 Human Tissue Act.
