Summary of responses for the consultation was published on 8 August 2006.
The purpose of this consultation exercise is to enable the Government to take into account the views of civil society and non-governmental organisations, as well as those of relevant government departments. It may be that there is a divergence of views received and the Government will have to balance these against the best interests of the UK as a whole. But it is important for interested parties to be able to express their views and concerns in an open consultation.
The Commission's proposed text of the programme can be found on the following website:

You will also be able to find other relevant material concerning the Commission's proposal on the Europa website: www.europa.eu.int.
This consultation has now ended. The consultation period was 8 February - 5 May 2006.
