Generally the BBC service is good but there are 2 things that are major irritations for me. Digital Onscreen Graphics ( AKA DOGS).... These are the little logos that pop up on the screen & tell you what you are watching. They are very intrusive & have the potential to reduce the useful life of plasma screen displays, particlularly if one channel is watched alot. I realy do not need to be perpetually told what channel I am watching, or that I can press the red button or that it is now the CBeebies bedtime hour or whatever arbitary information is pumped into my living room. They spoil my enjoyment of a program - particularly animated logos. They increase the danger of screen burn on plasma TVs - IE permanent marking of the screen. Is the BBC going to pay for a replacment screen for everyone who's TV is ruined ? If they are needed ( & I really do dispute that) , then they should only be visible if you actively look for them : they should be very small, made transparent or translucent, they should never use pure white & should vary the position in the screen where they are beween programs. Second Bugbear - The Digital Text Service has out of date weather, is very slow to load & has poor navigation The navigation of the weather pages is counter intuitive & does not match the way that I want to use it: At the highest level, the Menu is divided primarily into 24 hour forecast, 5 day forecast etc. with each geographical area underneath. This means that there is no way to move directly from the 24 hour forecast for my area to th e5 day forecast for MY area, without navigating up & down through the menu structure. You current menu structure makes it easy for people who want to examine a detailed Local 24 hour picture for each area in the country - rather than for people who want to know what the weather will be in their area. The top level menu should be divided geographically, with sub menu options for 24 hour , 5 day forecast etc. This is made worse by the fact that the 24 hour forecast - shows "today's weather" well into the evening - after I have already experinced it - so tomorrow's weather is sometimes on the 24 hour forecast & sometimes its on 5 day forecast. The 24 hour forecast should be constantly updated to reflect thepicture upto 21 - 24 hours hence My Local News should also routed smartly - IE in the same way asBBC 1 knows to send the correct "local TV" programmes to my TV, rather than as at present where I have to choose my location. Perhaps you should group the local news & weather together EG News +----------+ |My Local News Weather & Sport>>>>>>>> leads to +----------+ Local News etc... Weather for the next 24 hours Weather for the next 5 days Look at another area etc regards Richard Scannell
