I found this email address on the BBC website. It is asking for the public's view for the BBC's (possibly) forthcoming digital service. I'd say two things - 1) responses from this email address must be somewhat skewed, because I got to it from the BBC website - so in general people responding will be favourably disposed to the BBC because they're using the website. This is important. You shouldn't use skewed responses (and I hope you're not deliberately fishing for a skewed outcome) 2) I personally very rarely use my TV anymore. I really don't. That's why I don't want to see ANY increase in my license fee. I used to watch the BBC quite a bit, but now it's all dumbed down game shows and soaps. That's the stuff the independent channels churn out anyway. The BBC ought to stretch people to learn and think, in an entertaining way, plus provide strong impartial news coverage (actually the latter it does still do, which is great - it's not under the control of an owner (who appoints the editor) who's opinions shape what's being broadcast.) I couldn't care about digital reception. What I get now is fine. I don't want the government to sell off existing spectrum (because digital uses less space) AND for me to pay more for the "privilege" of going digital. Do you understand? And I don't want to pay for a new TV. I rent privately i.e. don't own my own property and am not in council accommodation - I don't want to spend my hard-earned money on a new TV and licence fee increases. I would be grateful for a reply. I am curious as to who reads this, and whether it matters at all that I write it. Regards John Reynolds
