Dear sir or madam, I have travelled reasonably extensively and it leads me to two conclusions.Firstly, we appear to have a more varied, rich and more interesting television service than anywhere in the world. Secondly, the world service is the most reliable and entertaining source of news and information in the vast majority of the countries I have visited. I do hope that the government's embarrassment, caused by the BBC confirming the nation's fears that British troops have been sent to die and we had been lied to by our Prime Minister about why this needed to happen, is not going to lead to the destruction of an excellent institution. One that is respected by a lot more Britons than the current parliament and its occupants. Yours Ali Potter
