I just don't understand why the BBC supplies its digital services to households across the UK AND Europe free (via SKY). UK licence fee payers are being used to cross-subsidise viewers in Europe and licence-evading households in the UK who are all viewing the output for free. The amazing thing about the digital technology is that it can be securely encrypted, along the lines of Sky sports and movie channels. Just replace the licence fee with charges for the BBC output. This is so much fairer. I believe it to be a disgrace that the TV licence fee, a regressive tax, is being used to force poor households to pay for digital output that they may not have access to due to a lack of equipment (and understanding of that hardware), whilst non-licence payers are watching that output across Europe for free. This cross-subsidising runs completely against the BBC's charter and history. Remember, when TV was new there were Radio and TV licences. There are still both colour and Black and White licences. Why isn't the BBC's digital output a paid-for subscription service? This would also then stop the prolific waste of having 2 TV news teams generating news programs at 6PM and 10PM on BBC1 and News 24, and again at 10.30 with Newsnight. Wake up and stop wasting my money. Not that any of this feedback is actually listened to in your empire! Robert Matthews
