As an ordinary licence-payer with no connection with any broadcast organisation, I wish to add to any review of BBC Digital services as follwos: - I have 2 Freeview decoders and intend to acquire a DAB radio - I find little tempation beyond perhaps some UK Gold to get Satellite (partly to avoid lining Murdoch's pockets) - I am very positive about BBC programming and overall quality (despite some signal problems) - The launch of BBC services (and <£100 decoders) was the catalyst to getting Freeview and I have not been disappointed (the DAB radio is good too) - On balance I have found BBC3 and BBC7 of the most use (and a ghost - free Channel 5 sometimes) - Friends who are parents find the BBC Childrens' channels more trustworthy and with fewer harmful effects than commercial, US-content-dominated satellite channels More generally I am happy with virtually all BBC content - I appreciate the challenge of trying to compete, while avoiding sensationalist, story-manufacturing and dumbing-down traps. The Licence feee is a bargain compared to satellite subscriptions - and with far less danger of price hikes, removal of favourites, enforced pay-per-view. The balance between reliability and interesting new programming is excellent. It is ironic to remember a criticism "sooo many repeats" then to realise that most of the non-mainstream commercial channels repeat far more than BBC ever did. Regards Andrew I Layton MIEE .
